Dead Poet’s Society-
“Gather ye rose buds while ye may”
If you haven’t seen this movie I suggest that you put everything down and WATCH IT! Dead Poet’s society tells you a story of a progressive and slightly unorthodox English Teacher named John Keating who encourages his students to break from the norms of society and to live their lives with poetry in their hearts and free spirits in their souls. With a combination of beautifully written and executed dialogues, near perfect cinematography and a stunning performance by Robin Williams, this movie will make your heart melt. This is simply a movie for the heart!
“Have you found joy in your life? Has your life brought joy to others?”
This movie follows two terminally ill men played by Jack Nicholson and Morgan freeman (yes, it does not get better than this!) who escape from a cancer ward to head off on a road trip with a bucket list of things to do before they die. It’s a super fun, light hearted and wonderfully uplifting film. The brilliant cast in lieu with a hilarious script is going to not only inspire you to make your own bucket list but is also going to make you laugh and cry at the same time.
“Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire”
Based on the real life story of Oskar Schindler, an egoistic and greedy German businessman who becomes an unlikely humanitarian amid the brutal German Nazi reign when he feels compelled to turn his factory into a sanctuary for Jews. Schindler managed to save 1100 Jews from being eventually gassed at the Auschwitz concentration camp, this movie is a simple testament to the good in all of us. It’s a masterpiece so beautiful that it’ll stay with you.
The Shawshank Redemption
“Fear can hold you prisoner. Hope can set you free”
Based on Stephen King’s “Rita Hayworth and shawshank redemption”, this movie tells the story of a formerly successful banker as a prisoner in the dreary jailhouse of Shawshank after being found guilty of the crime of murdering his own wife that he did not commit. The film takes you through the journey of watching this unconventional new prisoner deal with his torturous new life while befriending prisoner inmates and finding a way to escape the morbid prison. This movie is different than most with some jaw dropping scenes leaving you with a warm feeling of friendship and hope. This movie is deservingly listed number 1 in IMDB’s Top 250; you can simply NOT miss this one.
Good Will Hunting
“You’ll have bad times, but it’ll always wake you up to the good stuff you weren’t paying attention to.”
Famous as the movie co-written by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck ‘Good Will Hunting’ is also another brilliant Robin William performance in a movie that revolves around a janitor in MIT who has a gift for mathematics but needs help from a psychologist to find direction in his life. With a strong script that is witty, brilliant and hilarious at the same time. This movie deals with the complexity of human emotions, refuses to give you the easy answers and provokes a long and deep thought process about life.
